Gig Harbor is a lovely fishing village located on Puget Sound, very near Tacoma and 30 minutes from Seattle. We are a bedroom community, with all the amenities of country living AND city conveniences. Although only 10 minutes from Tacoma, it is not necesary to cross the bridge for shopping, etc. We have several major shopping centers, a new Costco is expected to open in spring of 2007. A new hospital is also planned. Our school district is one of the best in the state, yet we still have a local newspaper that comes once a week in the mail! We have very little crime here. As a matter of fact, our police blotter in the local paper is usually written as humor. An ideal place to raise children; lots of community involvement with all ages.
